A tribute to my darling Tascha’s (*Kyena) “Wax Dragon”: [link]

Over at Pixelbrush we had a little challenge to reinterpret each other’s artwork, and I couldn’t help but chose Tascha’s dragon. It’s one of my all-time favorite digital paintings, so I was thrilled to have the chance to do something based off of it. :D

Done pretty quickly… so it’s not quite as polished as it could have been, but it felt good to do something for myself again! I really overloaded myself on work these past two months and it is starting to weigh down on me.

Anyway, Tascha’s original is perfect as far as I am concerned, but the title always struck me as strange. When I think of wax, I think of fire melting the wax… that was my main inspiration.

I like that idea of the wax dragon being melted because in the other one it doesn't seem like it's made out of wax. Good luck with the contest. I'm kinda slow in entering it at pixelbrush.

Awesome! I love how this is like a dark interpretation of Kyena's wax dragon. I also like how even though the idea was hers, you have applied your own style and twist to it :nod: Well done!

Wow Lauren! Knew you picked that one but didn,t think it would turn out like that. Looking great! Love your colors and details as usual. I really like how you design your characters overall. The only thing that catches my eye is the redish-orange line going from her eye.. I find it a bit distracting even if the color does bring out the fire more. And for some reason, i really like the tiny bit of faint blue sky we can see right over her arm.:+fav: that will speak for itself. :hug:
