Destruction.

This is the first panel of a diptych I'm creating dealing with a destruction/rebirth myth. The other image will follow in a week or so. I'm still working on it. :)

I had a lot of fun doing this. I haven't worked with pencils for a few years, so it was nice to get back to them and try some complex images with them. After Christmas (once I get my new camera) I will also have a large-scale creation myth pencil image to show. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get a good shot of it yet, so you'll have to wait. ;)

This is amazing, simply put. I don't yet comprehend it, but I can already tell it will be one of those pieces that will be lingering in the back of my mind as I do other things throughout the day, trying to solve itself like a little puzzle there. His hands, oh his hands. I am in love with his hands. I want them to touch me; is that creepy? The smoke/mist effects are amazing.

Very inspiring this being in pencil as its my preferred and favourite media to work with currently, and great pencil work too.
What I love most is how vertical this drawing is, and that those figures just lift up with an atmospheric feel. The feet by the way are brilliant, for some reason how the feet and hands are really do it for me.

the only thing that's bugging me is on the bottom body, the spine (if that's what is is) look out of place. It doesn't have the same attention to detail as the rest of the picture.

WOW. Not that you need more people to tell you this, but this piece is amazing...
The "ribs" are a very cool addition to the piece.
The smoke is wonderfull, the lady in front is cool, the bodies are... kinda grotesque, but perfectly so.
The lady's hands creep me out. Not going to lie. ;)
I can't belive this didn't come from at least months of recent practice working with pencils.. gorgeous, and unique. :)

And great how you show the destruct/rebirth myth/theme.

This is retarded cool! It is VERY original!!! Powerful piece indeed! I just love the texture of graphite! The foreshortening of the "ribs" is excellent (good use of shadow and value to show distance.)

It took me two minutes to scroll down from the top of this where I started, to the bottom. Very great details that evoke many thoughts :)

I do not like, however, the outlines on the feet. The outlines themselves do not look bad, but in comparison to the rest of the bodies and the smooth gradients of shading on the bodies, the rough outlines on the toes are slightly out of place.

Scanners tend to eat contrast and detail, and this image is no exception. :( There are outlines of varying darkness around all of the figures and the shading on the bodies is actually done with crisp hatching, but it came out blurred in the scan.
