Description
The Damajah Inevera from The Desert Spear, commissioned by author Peter V. Brett.
This was actually the grand prize for an awesome cosplay contest Peat ran for his fans--the winner got a custom illustration from me depicting them as the character in the Demon Cycle world. The winner was the amazing Margherita. Take a look at her incredible entry! www.petervbrett.com/2011/08/03…
I couldn't resist placing the character strolling through the Sharik Hora temple, which is decorated with the bones of fallen warriors. Although, by the end of it I wanted to stab my eyes out. Never thought I'd actually get tired of painting skulls, hahah! Still, I had a blast painting this one. It was a great change of pace in terms of the past work I've done for Peter and gave me the opportunity to try out architecture and reach a new level of detailing.
I finished this back in October, in the nick of time for World Fantasy Con. I'll be doing a process write-up about creating this painting shortly for Peter Brett's blog.

You've given me new heights to aspire to. This is insane. I hope your wrists feel ok after all those skulls and bones...
